NATURAL CONTROL AND RETENTION PROGRAM

Basin control systems and natural retention measures against floods

Articulation of water control systems that provide a contrast of the results of the early warning system and a greater knowledge of the state of the demarcation and the problems coming from each zone, as well as design of natural retention measures against floods in specific locations of the Limia basin.

  • Expansion of the SAIH, SAICA, Piezometrics and Chemical Control network

New real time control points with robust cost curves and reliable communications, allowing to contrast the result of the early warning system models and the reality that will help to know better the state of the demarcation and the problems coming from each zone.

  • Natural flood retention measures

Natural solutions for restoring ecosystems while at the same time achieving good ecosystem status and mitigating the effects of floods on people and urban areas downstream.

Natural water retention measures (NWRM)” aim at restoring and maintaining aquatic ecosystems and their environmental services, promoting adaptation to climate change and also reducing vulnerability to floods and droughts by natural means.
