The Spanish basin organizations prepare themselves for the challenges of the future with “innovative actions and techniques”

The Spanish Hydrographic Confederations are preparing for the challenges of the future with “innovative actions and techniques”, as demonstrated this Wednesday in an event held at the Palacio de Congresos Expo in Zaragoza within the framework of the European Water Conference and the Commission, organised by the European Commission.

The event highlighted, on the one hand, the validity of the management principles of these Spanish Administrations, such as the basin unit and participation, and, on the other, the continuous need for adaptation in a context of Climate Change, with the best and most innovative tools for obtaining and sharing information and managing water resources.

Throughout the afternoon, examples of innovative management were discussed, which have in common the development of computer applications, the commitment to remote sensing networks for monitoring uses and the application of measures that are already giving good results in the improvement of water bodies.

The first block of papers and conclusions was devoted to the theme ‘Innovative actions for the management of extractions and protection of the public hydraulic domain’: networks for the control of ecological flows and for the control of water extractions and the provision of this information, together with international cooperation experiences, with pilot proposals from the Confederations of the Guadalquivir, Júcar and Miño-Sil.
